  • Ph.D. in Beijing Laboratory of Electron Microscopy, Chinese Academy of Sciences and National Laboratory of Solid State Microstructures, Department of Physics, Nanjing University, China, 2001.
  • Bachelor Degree in condensed matter physics from department of Physics, Nanjing University, Nanjing, China, 1996.

Research Area

  • Nanomaterials fabrication, characterization, and applications.
  • Transmission electron microscopy and high-resolution electron microscopy of peroveskite materials. Microstructure and morphology of thin films and bulk ceramics. Domain behavior and domain boundaries in ferroelectrics. Structure and chemistry of lattice defects in films and in multi-layer systems.

Research Highlights

  • Electron microscopy techniques: Skillfully operate JEOL 2010, 2000EX, 4000EX TEMs, Philips EM 420, EM430, CM12, CM20/FEG ST TEMs, and CM200FEG TEM equipped with GIF. Working experience on the methods of diffraction contrast, CBED, HREM, EELS, XEDS (EDX) and XRD.
  • Sample preparing: Rich practical experience on preparing planar, cross section, and grinded samples.
  • HRTEM simulation:
    • Cerius2 (Molecular Simulations Inc.).
    • Crisp (Copyright of Dr. Sven Hovmüler, Structural Chemistry, Stockholm University).
    • MacTempas software package (M. A. O’Keefe, R. Kilaas; National Center for Electron Microscopy, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Univ. of California).
